Tall Building: The Shuffle Tower in Dubai
I'm way into big buildings. They do a lot more for a city's character and future than most people recognize. So, I think it's HAWTaction [hot ak-shuh
n] to keep tabs on new projects like the Nakheel Harbour and Tower, Bahrain WTC, Honeycomb Skyscraper, Burj Dubai... in Dubai... in Pictures, CCTV and TVCC Towers, Tokyo Sky Tree, Burj Dubai (Revisited), Dancing Towers, Dynamic Tower, Dubai Towers, The Lighthouse (Paris), The Lighthouse (Dubai), Antilla, London's Super Tower, Eiffel Tower, Shuffle Tower, Full Moon, Caspian Bay, Chicago Spire, Chicago's Aqua Tower, Infinity Tower, Teardrop, Christmas Tree or the Burj Dubai.
Honestly? The insane building in Dubai is just not slowing down. (There's a list of projects covered on HAWTaction at the end of this post.) It's so much fun when people have billions of dollars in oil money! Look at how they entertain us with their construction projects!
I introduce the Shuffle Tower, designed by James Law Cybertecture:
Here's another computer rendering, this time at night:
There are three layers to this building. The top one is a residential tower that reminds me of Tupperware. Beneath that is an office tower that squats beneath the Tupperware's arse. Beneath both of them, there's a mall that will probably sell desk-size replicas of the very Shuffle Tower... dipped in gold. Now, you'll see a couple of floating platforms beneath the Tupperware tower. Those are communal sky gardens which just might be sassy as heck.
For the final touch, I quote architect James Law Cybertecture's website. The Shuffle Tower's buildings are mechanically jacked, "allowing the twisting angle between the office tower and the residents tower to change over time, affording different views over the seasons." Umm... I think I need a video to understand this.
Either way, I find this a sassy, sassy building. Even though it sits at a measly 35-floors, it, like the Full Moon and Caspian Plus, seems to qualify for a Tall Building post. Here are some more photos, then a list of Dubai building projects that have also been covered on HAWTaction [hot ak-shuh

I say you put the Tall Bilding posts on ice for a while, there, pal.... give us some CONTENT. If you want to see a real post, go to JLF: Our Prison System is a Mess
Calm down, JLF. Readers love the Tall Building posts, right, y'all?
Tall buildings rule. A testament to man's engineering prowess. Architectural and engineering marvels.
When is the discussion of Dubai's "The World" and the palm island?
You know what would be cool? A focus on a really tall building, only it was deep in the earth where the Morlocks live.
Hi, John! Didn't you notice it? "Shuffle" refears to an iPod Shuffle, that is the shape of this building.
Just exactly as The Pad, another building of James Law, that was inspired on an iPod.
Duh!
I hear what you're saying Avechu. I'm leaning towards thinking that the Shuffle referred to the fact that the building would actually move, but Apple inspiration sounds just as viable. I wonder what Law's Phone Building will be. Or the Newton Building?
Thanks for the comment.
