JLF: Lost Billions in Iraq. It's What's Wrong With Our Government.
Johnny Lead Foot here, and I'm pissed...
It took the BBC to do it, but they have identified $23 BILLION that has been lost in Iraq. $23 BILLION. I'm gonna blow through this one because I'm so FREAKING HAWT.Henry Waxman, the chair of the House committee on oversight and government reform for the U.K., said: "The money that's gone into waste, fraud and abuse under these contracts is just so outrageous, it's egregious... It may well turn out to be the largest war profiteering in history."
The reason this post is going to be so short? The U.S. Government, like they f'ing do with everything they mess up, has placed a gag order on these allegations.
The BBC cites an example of Hazem Shalaan who lived in London until he was appointed Iraq's Minister of Defense in 2004.
He was found guilty for siphoning over $1.2 BILLION as he pretended to rebuild Iraq's military. His main technique was to buy old military equipment from Poland, but list the prices as new. Then he and his colleagues take the difference. $1.2 BILLION. I mean, I'm dizzy with that number.
Shalaan was sentenced to 2 jail terms, but he fled the country. Interpol has an arrest out for him, but he's hopping around the world on his private jet. Unfindable. He still had property in London. Oh, and $1.2 billion.
The reason this is terrible is:
Am I the only one who can't stand this? I'm gonna turn into the Hulk and just leap off this planet. I'm sure my Martian friends will take me in.
Total madness.
Always your pleasure.

Again, this is so egregious, I'm gonna keep tying to put it all in perspective. This administration shits all over your yard, then tell you that you want the shit there and then they command that you can't ask anymore questions about it.
1. that the U.S. is just bleeding money over there and it's having a direct impact on our incredible deficit, plummeting dollar value and global economy. And we seem to be doing nothing about this. No major US contractor is facing trial for fraud or mismanagement in Iraq.
2. The administration gave BILLIONS of dollars in NO-BID contracts to their buddies like Halliburton ($7 billion to them, alone). Let me put that in perspective. It's like you buying a DVD player and you go to Super Buy Fun and they say it costs $45,023,349.99 dollars. Then you put down the country's credit card. Deal. You never even think to look at Buy Heaven next door to see if there's a cheaper one. Oh, this makes me so mad. And the cream on top?
3. The government blocks any information to be released about this lost, stolen or misappropriated money.
