TV RCMNDTN: Planet Green

| | Comments (3) | | | |
Sometimes there are TV shows that are really, really good that few people watch, and I feel compelled to draw attention to them.  Now I have a blog to power that drawing.  I drew attention to Arrested Development sans-blog and it, single-handed, pushed the show's canceling back by about 4 minutes, which is like a year in TV time.

This call to HAWT readers is a blind one, because we're recommending something that hasn't been aired yet.  Usually, the love I have for the TV RCMNDTNs hits you hard and fast through this computer screen.  This time, we're recommending on faith.

planet-green-logo.pngThe recommendation is Planet Green, the newest channel in the Discovery posse (History, TLC, Animal Planet, Science Channel, Military Channel....).  This new project is singularly focused, like its siblings.  This time, Discovery will be focused on environmental issues and how you can be more environmentally conscience.  It looks like a worthy effort, and we at HAWT are going to be tuning in when the channel goes live tonight at 6pm, EST.
The Channel is populated with quasi-celebrities who all seem interesting, like Bill Nye, Adrian Grenier from Entourage, Maria Menounos, Tommy Lee, Bob Woodruff, Ludacris, Tom Bergeron, Emeril Lagasse, SuChin Pak, Ed Begley, Jr... As I search the channel's site, I'm impressed at how robust the programming is at launch.  The shows fall under the following categories:

  • Fashion & Beauty
  • Food & Health
  • Home & Garden
  • Tech & Transport
  • Travel & Outdoors
  • Work & Connect
Planet Green is billing itself as, "the first and only 24-hour eco-lifestyle television network with a robust online presence and community. By representing a broad range of ideas and perspectives, Planet Green is taking an active role in generating conversation and motivating individuals to take action when it comes to improving the environmental status of our planet."

That?  That is HAWT action [hot ak-shuhn].  The programming looks very interesting.  The hosts are sassy.  The effort is more-than-worthy.  Let's give it a chance, eh?  Find out what the channel its on in your area.

The program goes live in 2 minutes, so I'm ending this post now and turning on the tube at HAWT headquarters.  Enjoy, y'all.

Uh-oh. Summer TV viewing is here. I'm gonna see if it's possible to watch a channel for all 24 hours in a day.

I'm the best blogger, ever.
