Web_geM: Check Your Testicles

Every once in a while, something pops up on the web that even
HAWT finds noteworthy.  This is the series called Web_geM,
and it's gonna snuggle you into clapping, hitting refresh
and forwarding it on to everyone you know...

Testicular cancer is found in up to 8,000 men a year in the U.S.  (Strangely, none is ever found in women.)  The disease is typically a young-person's cancer, with it hitting from 15-35 year-olds.  Survival rate is a very high 90%.  NINETY!  The 10% that die are the ones whose cancer has gone unnoticed until it's metastasized, which means the cancer cells have started traveling throughout the body and setting up camps elsewhere.

LanceArmstrong1hr.jpgThis is what happened to Lance Armstrong in 1996.  His cancer was so far advanced, it had metastasized to the lungs and brain.  They never thought he'd live, much less ride a bike again to win 5 Tour de Frances and then date all hot dirty-blondes in Hollywood.

The key is to identify the cancer before it's reached that level.  How do you do that, gentlemen?  Well, you've got to feel your balls.
Tom Green, the odd Canadian comedian, also had testicular cancer.  His testicle, like anyone else with the disease, was removed.  He used the flame of his fame to encourage young men to examine themselves.  He took his removed testicle around in a glass jar... because I guess that's funny?  (Oh, how genius is rarely understood.)  Unfortunately for us all, Tom Green's flame of his fame has barely burned lately.

So, that's where the Web_geM comes in.  This is a YouTube video that not only has people howling, but it carries that all important message: Gents, check your testicles for lumps that aren't supposed to be there.  All the time.  Go on... do it all the time.  It's for your own good.  Be part of that 90%, not the 10%, 'k?  In fact, let's all get on this self-examining train and take that 10% down to 0%, eh?

Watch it, learn the lyrics, then sing along.  This song, and its message, is HAWT action [hot ak-shuhn].
