There Are 10 Million Millionaires... None at HAWTaction Headquarters

margot-money1.jpgA recent report by Merrill Lynch & Co. and consulting firm Capgemini Group (can anyone do anything without consultants these days?) stated that there are were 10,000,000 millionaires in the world in 2007.  That's... ten... million.... millionaires.  There were 9,400,000 in 2006, so there are another 600,000 to add to the mix.  Before you get all cocky and claim that you know a guy who's house costs over a million, I must point out that this list cares not for the value of property.

These millionaires' value was pegged at $41 trillion, which means the average wealth is over $4 million, which is up 9% from 2006.  We'll take a look at this breakdown, eh?
The good ol' U.S. is still champ, with one out of every 3 millionaires calling Uncle Sam... Uncle.  The countries with largest increase in count, as you'd imagine, are China, Brazil and India.  India, in fact, had a boost of 23% new millionaires.

"Enough about the rich, what about the SUPER rich?"  Yes, reader, the super rich, people valued at over $30 million, is growing, too.  They are up 9% from 2006, up to 103,000 of them luckies.  Though their numbers climbed 9%, their value soared 15%, which means... yes... the super rich just keep getting super richer.

I originally saw this news on cnn.com, and all the while they are reminding that there are TEN MILLION of these millionaires out there, rubbing that giant number in my thousandaire face.  Then, in a quick turn of "let's make you feel better, thousandaires," they say that 10,000,000, in reality, isn't that big of a number.  I mean, it's just over one tenth of one percent of the world's population.  Don't patronize us, CNN.

I don't even have a million in Monopoly money. At least I can sleep knowing I'm smarter than all of y'all.

I'm the best blogger, ever.
