Web_geM: Where is Matt?

| | Comments (4) | | | |
Every once in a while, something pops up on the web that even
HAWT finds noteworthy.  This is the series called Web_geM,
and it's gonna snuggle you into clapping, hitting refresh
and forwarding it on to everyone you know...

I must say, YouTube surfing doesn't happen anymore (back in the day, I could do a weekend straight of watching people punch each other in the face).  I'm not too into "forwarded emails," ether, but my aunt Josie turned those around today.

logo_sm.jpgEnter Matt Harding.  He is a self-described deadbeat from Connecticut who, after leaving a job in Australia in 2003, burned his savings by traveling Asia.  At some point, his buddy asked him to dance in front of the video camera with Matt's signature moves.  They posted the video on the internet and it got a bit of the viral bug.  (When will HAWT get its viral bug?)

The video got the attention of Stride Gum and they asked Matt if he was going to travel anymore.  Would he be interested in making another video?  Matt said, "Are you paying for it?"  Stride Gum answered, "Yes."  Agreement?  Done.  Matt started globetrotting with camcorder.

The video in this post is his latest video.  It's hard to explain what this video did to me, personally.  It inspired me.  It moved me.  It made me want to see the world.  I felt joy.  I saw the commonality between all of us, across all continents.  It's an outstanding piece of work.  I hope it hits you with equal impact.
This video covers 42 countries over 14 months.  Be sure you have the sound up, and enjoy.

Please post comments to let me know if I'm the only one so moved by this video.

If you like what you see, check out Matt's website where there are other videos and details about Matt, himself, and his trips.  If you want to see the video in high definition, hit up YouTube and click "Watch in High Quality" under the video.  [High Quality is recommended.]

That?  That is some HAWT action [hot ak-shuhn].

You know, John, HAWT could get its viral bug if you let me dance in front of a camera in places like the Korean demilitarized zone and Paris. Think outside the box, boy, like Stride Gum.

I'm the best blogger (and dancer?), ever.

So good. My favorite video on Youtube, ever.

We should record our own, where the hell is JLF? Dancing in front of 7-11, buying corn nuts at Walgreens, hugging the Naked Cowboy, feeding the pigeons in Bryant Park.

We'd need good music, since the music in Where is Matt is classic. The theme music from the first Halo would rock.

duh-duh-duh-DUH! duh-duh-duh-DUH!

That is a brilliant idea. I always knew you had one in you, Jason.

JLF, ready for your video? I think we just shoot what Jason laid out.

This is tempting, but ever since that time I was embarrassed in the Today Show's audience, I stay away from any camera.

I'm the best blogger, ever.
