A couple of days after Star Wars: The Clone Wars successful $15 million opening weekend, George Lucas held a press conference at Skywalker Ranch to lay out plans for additional Star Wars projects.  "We're very excited," Lucas said.  "We think, like the Clone Wars, the original movies hinted at events in the Star Wars universe that fans are anxious to explore.  Star Wars: the Clone Wars, an upcoming TV series on Spike, proves that Star Wars does not have to be limited to the film genre.  We are excited about a plethora of media options, and we think fans will be too."

The first project Lucas presented was Star Wars: The Kessel Run.  Mentioned in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope by Han Solo, Lucasfilms will explore the the famous spice run with a twenty-seven-part mini-series on ABC family.  The story will focus on the Kessel Run and the traders that risk their lives for their trade.  "Think Ice Road Truckers in space."  The project will combine live actors with puppet shadows in front of green screens.  The story will mainly focus on Greedo, but Han Solo is expected to make a cameo.  There are rumors the original Greedo and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) will voice their puppet shadows.
Lucasfilm also plans on launching Lucaspuppetshows, a traveling puppet show that will tell the story of Salacious B. Crumb, Jabba the Hutt's sidekick.  The stage for Star Wars Episode A: Salacious B. Crumb is a Rascal will be an industry-revolutionary thirty-feet long, have fifty pupeteers, over three hundred puppets and an 80-piece orchestra.  Audience count is expected to be between 100 and 200, depending on the sidewalk width.  Lucas is considering this a biography of Salacious B. Crumb, the story leading up to his partnership with Jabba the Hutt.  It is expected to generate five sequels, Episodes B through F.

Lucas also introduced Star Wars: The Binary System is Born in That Place!  "We're particularly excited about this 3-webisode series that will run exclusively on ask.com."  The series will jump back a billion years and cover the supreme being's decision to put two suns in Degobah's system, Luke Skywalker's home system.  Lucas hinted that the two suns will be symbolic for the two droids who will later visit and change the fate of the universe.  The series will play in Microsoft's Silverlight platform and will be voiced by children all under 10 years of age.

Star Wars Episode 0.1: Wookies Are a Punished People! will be a short film (~20 minutes), with a global wide-release, as if a feature film.  "We're keeing this one close to our vest, but we can tell you we've got Mike Myers and yours truly to write and Brian Robbins to direct."  Brian Robbins movies include The Shaggy Dog, Norbit and Meet Dave.  "We expect it to be a full series, maybe ten mini-movies.  Star Wars Episode 0.1: Wookies Are a Punished People! is expected to be followed by Star Wars Episode 0.2: Wookies Realize They are Giants, Star Wars Episode 0.3: Swing that Stick!, Star Wars Episode 0.4: Locks and Revenge are in Thousands of Wookie Hands, Star Wars Episode 0.5: Revenge!!!

"We're really excited about this last project, called Star Wars: Grand Moff Tarkin's Architect, Architect to the Death Star, which will be a the story of the non-Jedi hired by Grand Moff Tarkin to design the Death Star.  The series will follow the young man's struggle to make a weapon the size of a moon that can obliterate entire planets in one go, with a crew of 265,675, as well as 52,276 gunners, 607,360 troops, 30,984 stormtroopers, 42,782 ship support staff, and 180,216 pilots and support crew.  A key part of the story will be his decision to include reactor shafts the Rebellion uses to destroy the first Death Star."  This reporter never understood why there was a reactor shaft that lead to the vacuum of space and was, therefore, pointless.  "The series will be shot on IMAX, in black and white, and distributed only on Verizon Wireless cell phones."

The force is strong with you John

I'm not a Star Wars fan (Star Trek for me), but I don't know how I can stay away from the allure of Star Wars Episode 0.1: Wookies Are a Punished People.

I'm the best blogger, ever.

Wouldn't Salacious B. Crumb make a fine running mate for John McCain? A yes man if there ever was one.

BTW, The Phantom Menace still sucks.

It's been a pretty slippery slide...
