As I pointed out in Hubble Telescope Turns 18. (Says Will Vote for Nader.), it's amazing Hubble's made it this far. When the switch was flipped on this bad boy, the images were blurry and the Hubble needed spectacles. Literally. (Kind of like the Viking spacecraft: The Voyager Spacecraft Kick Ass! Prove Solar System is Not Straight!) It's outlived it's life expectancy, and it's a miracle we're celebrating Hubble's work 100,000th revolutions into this game. To celebrate, NASA has released the latest batch of photos from Hubble's insane cameras.
This is the adorable star cluster NGC 2074:
Now, NASA has to overlay filters on this photo to give it
depth and sass, but that is one beautiful picture. I mean… I can stare into that all day. For some reason, when I do stare at it, I
feel like I’m Somewhere Over the Willy Wonka Rainbow. I see flying monkey eating giant lollipops,
cowardly lions running on river of chocolate, Emerald City with Escher-like
hallways. The only thing that would
please me more is a larger version of that photo.

Now you're seeing the Lollipop Kids in a glass elevator that moves in all directions, right?

Happy rotationary, Hubble. You've done good, kid.

NASA MSHMASA. I don't get your obsession with the bloated government department, John.
We need to cancel NASA and just start Starfleet. Let's really step into the future.

JLF - how's the weather on Uranus?
It's funny, because it's the first time weather can be described a genius, enlightening and close-to-god.

This is true. And stinky.
