JLF: A Gentle Reminder That Saudi Arabia is a Different World
Johnny Lead Foot here, and I'm pissed...
Dogs rule. That's not marketing talking, that's common sense. Bring in a Yorkie, Golden Retriever or a Dreya into the picture, and the room changes. People relax. Children open up.
Women find a libido? Men get lucky? Ummmm... Well, that's the prevailing thought process in Saudi Arabia right now.
Apparently the Saudi government is spinning its wheels with just-as-pointless-things as the government does here (steroids in baseball, Sirius/XM). Riyadh's leaders have been busy busting out the powers of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, which, essentially, are the religious police who are responsible for enforcing the state's strict interpretation of Islamic law.
Well, in Riyadh, they are doing something about this pet-owning-that-leads-to-fornication. They've outlawed it. Not the fornication... the walking. That's right. As of today, no more pets are allowed in Saudi's capital city. It is not only illegal to sell them, but it's illegal to take them on the street. Sooooooo for those lucky owners who had pets before... well... they have to teach them to use the toilet.
What happens if the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice finds you while walking your dog or cat? Will they give you a ticket? A warning? No, they will take away your pet. Just like that. Confiscated. Done. Say good-bye to your best friend.
Insaaaaaaaaane.
The thing is that this isn't the first city to pass this law. It is also in effect in Mecca and Jiddah, but it isn't strictly enforced. (Heathens.) I guess it's their version of banning smoking indoors in the U.S. It's truly a different world.
Always your pleasure.

Find me on Facebook.com, and join the HAWTaction.com Reader group. My name there is Johnny LeadFoot (they didn't allow the space).

I find myself calm and submissive in the presence of furry creatures. It would make me very sad to see family members removed from the house.
Why aren't we retraining the minds of the men who invent these laws? They seem to have issues with self-control. They should cover their eyes instead.
