Tall Building: Anara Tower
I'm way into big buildings. They do a lot more for a city's character and future than most people recognize. So, I think it's HAWTaction [hot ak-shuh
n] to keep tabs on new projects like the Okhta Tower, Nakheel Harbour and Tower, Bahrain WTC, Honeycomb Skyscraper, Burj Dubai... in Dubai... in Pictures, CCTV and TVCC Towers, Tokyo Sky Tree, Burj Dubai (Revisited), Dancing Towers, Dynamic Tower, Dubai Towers, The Lighthouse (Paris), The Lighthouse (Dubai), Antilla, London's Super Tower, Eiffel Tower, Shuffle Tower, Full Moon, Caspian Bay, Chicago Spire, Chicago's Aqua Tower, Infinity Tower, Teardrop, Christmas Tree or the Burj Dubai.
I get a tingle in my nether regions every time I find a new Tall Building post, because these buildings pretty much kick arse. Well, my nether regions almost liquefied when I saw this project.
As with almost all Tall Building posts, this one is in Dubai in UAE. If it were built right now, it'd be the second tallest building in the world (second to Burj Dubai) standing at an insane 655 meters (2,150 feet). It has some seriously unique features. Don't believe me? Check it. This is the Anara Tower.
Jigga-whaaaaaat?
Designed by British architecture firm Atkins - whose work we saw in The Lighthouse (Dubai) - this monster will have 125 stories, one of which will be HAWT action's once this building is completed.
Let's take a look, shall we?

The building is, essentially, two towers that are connected with a central glass shaft. The two towers shoot up to support the mock propeller that doesn't, actually, spin, but that's something we can let slide because it's hiiiiiigh on the sass meter.
The 125 stories will be separated into offices, shops, a place for exhibitions and auctions (to sell the city when we're all zipping around in solar powered cars), 300 expeeeeeeeeeeeeeeensive apartments, a 250-room luxury hotel and gardens every 27 floors. That means every 27 floors up you can step out and get an even better look at Dubai's insane skyline.
In the middle of the propeller will live one of the most expensive restaurants in the world where you can not only get a lunch, but also lose your lunch because of the view in the glass-enclosed hub.
One claim to fame is that the most expensive apartment in Dubai will be in the Anara Tower that will have its own, private elevator and swimming pool. Once we move HAWTaction's headquarters here, we expect to get a secret pass to this penthouse deal for midnight swims.
That really is a beauty, though I'm peeved because there seems to be no "green" construction included in this building. Argh. Construction, assuming the backers still have any money what with the collapse of the economy, will begin at the end of 2009.
Yeah. The Anara Tower is some HAWTaction [hot ak-shuh
