Gothic Lolita
I first learned about Gothic Lolita from Madame M months ago, and it's about time G.L. came out in a HAWT-sponsored party. As you can see from the pic, this party's going to be filled with cupcakes, confetti and group hugs.It's not hard to imagine this brain child came out of Japan and is - as it sounds - a mix of child-based seduction and Gothic tones/styles (which, I chalk up to renaissance?). The New York Times summarizes, it's a mix of "Victorian children’s wear, the French Rococo period, goth-inspired darkness and Japanese anime."
It's all better explained in photos. Good thing I have some.

What is funny is that the Gothic Lolita community denies any connection between their name and Nabakov's Lolita novel. I don't quite understand how that's possible.
The style evolved from Japanese street wear in the 1990's, and the result is much more complicated than you'd imagine. The concept has found niches and the sub-divisions range:
- Elegant Gothic Lolitas
- Erotic Lolitas
- Gory Lolitas
- Sweet Lolitas
- White Lolitas
- HAWT JLF Lolitas (coming soon... same dress, but made pattern is JLF's green logo)
- HAWT J.C. Lolitas (coming soon... same dress, but made pattern is Jenn's purple logo)
- HAWT Lolitas (coming soon... beautiful, intricate, mind-bending design that not many people get to see)
I must say, I'm not taken by the Gothic Lolita scene, but then again, I'm not taken by many "scenes" at all. There was the Flashdance "scene," but that was only in 1999 - a bit late, I know. Oh, and the carbo-load "scene" that dominated my life during the Atkins crazy. Oh, and the Obama "scene." Here are some more pics for y'all.
The teddy bear? It might persuade me to get into the scene.
Want more? The New York Times has some great media:

You seem to have no idea what lolita fashion is. Please read this article before inventing your own types:
http://www.lolitafashion.org/what_is_lolita.php
I, apparently, don't know everything about Lolita, anonymous. You list the types of Lolita as:
* Gothic Lolita
* Sweet Lolita
* Casual Lolita
* Hime Lolita
* Shiro Lolita
* Kuro Lolita
* Classic Lolita
* Country Lolita
* Sailor Lolita
* Wa Lolita
* Guro Lolita
* Punk Lolita
* Ero Lolita
* Cosplay Lolita
* Kodona
* Aristocrat
But I've found lists on other websites that are different. So, let's just say this isn't physics and that it's an evolving form of fashion, and an evolving lifestyle for some, too.
And the Lolita fashions I made up? That's for comedy.
I encourage anyone interested in Gothic Lolita to visit your site and learn more. You can also visit:
