Every season of the ever-popular TV series "24" starring Keifer Sutherland is getting a new DVD release that will be called, "24, The Director's Cut: 48." In an effort to expand the rich universe of 24, all 7 seasons will add 24 hours of footage to cover other action that happened in each fateful day.
"24 is a revolutionary show, where each second of the 24 hour day is accounted for," executive producer Brian Grazer told HAWT reporters. "Each season is 24 episodes long, starting and ending at the same time of day. We are careful to edit pieces so not a beat is missed. No action jumps forward. In fact, we are sure to include a lot of 3-minute car rides into the storyline so we can break for commercials." This reporter counted, and there are 145 such examples in the season's 168 episodes.

"The nature of the show means there can only be one focus for the show at a time. If something happens at 10am, that's the only thing that can happen at 10am, just because of the nature of the job. To maintain that, we had to compromise some other action. Our research shows that fans want to see what else is going on. Those 3-minute car rides down to the station, for example. Why should our viewers not see that footage? Well, we're going to give it to them. We're going to give them an additional 24, with no scene from the original footage. All new footage."
When asked about Keifer Sutherland's availability to record all new footage, Grazer explained, "Since the show revolves so strongly around Keifer's character, Jack Bauer, he can't be in the extra footage much. In fact, we've boiled his extra scenes down to 3 hours, combined, of Jack lying unconscious on a cement ground after being tortured and 24 shots of him urinating either on a wall, quickly, or in a bottle while he's driving. He only pees once a day," Grazer bragged.
Other footage to expect:
Grazer emphasized: "24, The Director's Cut: 48 will not be incredibly boring."

Other footage to expect:
- In Season 3 there will be a three-hour highlight of Tony Almeida, in a coma, as he is treated for a bullet wound to the neck. "All shot in the ER in one take, like a play. We'll work three surgeries into the single-shot, but also include forty-five minute stretches of him lying still, collecting his energy to rejoin the action."
- There will be over 45 scenes of Chloe O'Brien working on her computer silently, then cutting away just as she reaches to grab the receiver to answer Jack's call.
- A 2-hour scene of Jack's daughter, Kim Bauer, walking aimlessly through the forest in season 2, 24 scenes of Jack Bauer hurredly peeing on a wall or into a bottle as he drives (he urinates once a day).
- Four hours of parametics and firefighters digging through CTU's rubble after it was blown up. "It'll be like ER, but on the street. Quick and dirty. We expect great character development here."
- Over 20 scenes of the season's "hotties" taking a shower. "They will be tastefully shot. This is a family show, after all."
